Our story
Stories, told the way they used to be.
Lúmì was inspired by the way stories were once told before screens became part of every routine.
Growing up, some of my earliest memories were sitting outside at night with my younger sister while my dad told us stories under the moonlight. It was quiet, dark, and simple. No screens. No bright lights. No distractions. Just a voice, a story, and the moonlight around us while our imagination filled in the rest.
That kind of storytelling is deeply rooted in Yoruba folklore and in many cultures where children gathered around parents, grandparents, or elders to listen, learn, and imagine. The stories did more than entertain. They taught patience, kindness, courage, consequences, respect, and the values children carry with them.
Today, many parents are looking for a gentler alternative to tablets, especially during bedtime, travel, and quiet moments. Screens may be convenient, but they can overstimulate children, disrupt rest, and contribute to tired eyes from too much screen exposure.
Lúmì was created to bring back a calmer way.
A simple storytelling companion that helps children listen, imagine, learn, and settle without autoplay, browsing, ads, or endless distractions.
Because children do not always need more stimulation.
Sometimes, they need more calm.

Calm is the product
Not engagement. Not minutes. Not streaks. The metric that matters is whether bedtime feels easier in your house tonight than it did last month.
One thing, very well
Lùmì does a few things deliberately and nothing else. Closed devices, by design, make calmer rooms.
Old traditions, new device
We borrow nothing from social media and a great deal from the way grandmothers have always told stories.
We work for the family
Not for advertisers, not for an algorithm. The only person Lùmì should make happy is the child who falls asleep with it.
